Paula D. Royster is a scholar-practitioner, educator and Founder and CEO of The Center for African American Genealogical Research, Inc. (CAAGRI). She graduated from Union Institute and University with her interdisciplinary doctorate degree majoring in Humanities & Culture, with a secondary major in Public Policy & Social Justice and a certificate in Creative Writing.

Her research in the African Diaspora has earned her two Fulbright Scholarships. Her research in Africa, North and South America, Europe and the Caribbeans is guided by her conviction that rewriting history to include the silent voices of Others is an urgent matter of social justice for the millions of enslaved peoples of Africa who were silenced by their imprisoners and for the descendants they left behind.
